More About YPR

Philosophy and Approach:

I offer a safe place where you can process your story but also work to form goals and visions for the future.

Change is a process that can require us to confront complex realities, shame and emotional pain in order to achieve our goals. I strive to walk with you in your experience and understand your map of the world that is unique to you. Recognizing areas that can compromise the life experience as well as the areas of great strength that bring more fulfillment.

Theories and Components

I approach supporting you by integrating components of Person-Centered Partnership, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Coaching, Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention including the CNAPS model. These approaches include personal enhancement tools to increase effectiveness and address the Whole Person Model.

Person-Centered Partnership

This humanistic approach understands each individual has within them vast resources for self-understanding, for altering their self-identity, attitudes, and self-directed behavior and that these resources can be discovered and tapped within a warm, genuine, and understanding coaching climate.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Coaching

This is a powerful form of cognitive change that incorporates mindfulness practices such as meditation and breathing exercises. Using these tools, clients discover how to break away from negative thought patterns that can cause a “downward spiral” or other behaviors they desire to change.

Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention

I prefer to call this Recovery Enhancement as opposed to relapse prevention but MBRP is a set of practices to foster increased awareness of triggers, destructive habitual patterns, and “automatic” reactions that seem to control many behaviors and lives. The mindfulness practices in MBRP are designed to help us learn to respond in ways that serve us, rather than react in ways that are detrimental to our health and happiness.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP provides us techniques to bring about changes in perception, responsible communication and developing choices of responses or communication in a given situation. NLP works on the principle that we can “reframe and own” our experience and that everyone has all the resources they need to make positive changes in their life.

Trauma Informed Professional

As a lifelong meditator and mind/body practitioner, I have centered much of my work with individuals on healing trauma through mindful awareness of mind body balance. I have received training to instruct in a variety of meditation and other mindfulness practices as well as certification as a Family Trauma Professional.

“All my intention has been toward helping clients through establishing a partnership and plan of action to move beyond what we don’t want and toward what we do want in our lives.”
